June 10-11 2024 the consortium met in Venice for a focus workshop on polarization, trust, and disinformation. The Venice workshop was a chance to discuss new frameworks, methodologies, and approaches developed within the project to study the impact of social media on society and the political debate. It was also the opportunity to fine-tune the collaboration among the project members and devise a general communication strategy to support the project in the upcoming months.
Presentations covered the role of information and misinformation, dynamics of trust in individuals and information sources, and the role of participation and polarization on Twitter and other social media. The invited lecture by Fabiana Zollo on "Exploring social dynamics and public discourse in the digital age" provided further input on the challenges in dealing with mis- and disinformation in the current media landscape.
